'The Vampire Diaries': Michael Malarkey On Enzo Tackling Rayna's List, Trying To Help Bonnie

'The Vampire Diaries': Michael Malarkey On Enzo Tackling Rayna's List, Trying To Help Bonnie

"The Vampire Diaries'" Enzo is in a tough spot.
In order to keep his girlfriend, Bonnie Bennett, safe from the Armory, he gave her pills that helped cloak her. The problem was, those pills were secretly harmful and Bonnie has started to develop the scabs that are a sign she is very, very sick.

"He feels terrible, I mean, that's even selling it short," Michael Malarkey, who plays Enzo on the long-running series, told Access Hollywood on Thursday afternoon. "He feels worse than terrible, but when the s*** hits the fan and when huge tragedies happen in your life, you don't sit there and cry about it, you buckle down and say, 'I'm going to do whatever I can to help out the people I care about and I'm not going to let them know that it's freaking me out as much as it really is.' And I think, especially when you're in a relationship with somebody, if they think that you're freaking out, they're going to freak out even more."

Rayna Cruz is believed to hold a solution to the problem, but she's tasked Damon and the gang with taking out the vampires that were once in the Phoenix stone. Unfortunately for the gang, in last week's episode, after the gang tackled Rayna's first list, she had her "A Beautiful Mind"-style moment and came up with many, many more names.

A sneak peek at Friday's episode revealed Enzo and Damon are hitting the road to go vampire hunting (while Stefan gets paired up with Matt).

"Basically, right now Enzo feels like this is the only chance he has because he knows how quickly this… [disease] spreads and kills so he's like, 'Well, look, if this is the chance we've got, I'm going to get on the road with Damon and we're just going to plow through them and hopefully we can do this in time to get back and save [Bonnie's] life.' And at the moment, that's the last straw he's clutching at so he's hoping that that's going to be the case," Michael said.
Last week's episode had some action-packed slaying scenes, and while they're fun to watch, they can be tough to shoot from a technical standpoint.
"When you have a fight scene, you have to shoot it from a variety of angles -- close ups, pulling hearts out, cleaning up blood, putting blood back on -- because you don't shoot it all consecutively. So it's very bit-y and so you're kind of doing one little bit and then you stop, you've got to reset, do another bit and sometimes it kind of takes a little bit of the steam out of it," Michael explained about how it works behind-the-scenes. "So it's our challenge as an actor to be able to kind of maintain that intensity throughout those fight scenes. But, the more you do it, and I've been on this show now for three years, it becomes second nature, but they're not as fun as they look."
Access also asked the actor how they get the fake blood off at the end of the day.
"Shaving cream, believe it or not," he revealed, sharing a trick of the trade.
Before shooting the scenes, the actors put on a barrier cream, and turn to the foamy stuff post-shoot.
"When it's done, you kind of use wet wipes to get it off and when you get back to the makeup trailer, you lather yourself in shaving cream, and somehow that – something to do with science – it pulls it all off, so," he said. "But you still will find it in your fingernails. That's like the worst. You're walking around looking like you've been eating beetroots."
Friday night's episode won't just have slaying. It will also start to get into the Armory storyline that involves a Bennett witch and a locked vault.
"We're going to delve into that a little further," Michael said.

This season of "TVD" has featured a host of surprising twists, including seeing Enzo and Bonnie become an item, heretic deaths, Mama Salvatore's death, Phoenix stone hauntings and more. Asked if he also gets surprised, like fans, by some of the jaw-dropping plot twists -- despite working for so long on the show, Michael said he does.
"I'm constantly surprised and to be honest, I take my hat off to the them because I'm starting to work on little projects myself, things just for fun, and starting to write things and how long it takes me to come up with scenarios is just like -- it's like stirring chili," he said.
"But I'm excited about it every time, every script I get, I'm excited to see what Enzo's going to get up to next," he said.
This summer, what Michael is up to next is hitting the road. He's got a tour booked in Europe in support of his "Knots" EP, and has two stateside dates scheduled, including May 26 at Atlanta's Eddie's Attic and June 30 at Los Angeles' Hotel Café.
Michael is currently gearing up for the trek by planning with his touring mates over Skype.
"I've got everybody in London so I'm kind of doing it over Skype interviews and telephone calls and talking them through how I want the songs to sound. I think I'm going to do some stuff with the band and some acoustic stuff just with me so I'll kind of throw both things into the mix," he said.
"The Vampire Diaries" airs Friday at 8/7c on The CW.

‘Vampire Diaries’ Season 7 Spoilers: Episode 20 Synopsis Released; What Will Happen In ‘Kill ‘Em All’? [VIDEO & PHOTOS]

Bonnie only has a limited amount of time left on “The Vampire Diaries.” The witch has started to see the side effects of the pills containing Rayna’s blood. That means her friends have to put their search for a cure into overdrive in “The Vampire Diaries” Season 7, episode 20. However, finding a nonexistent cure is going to be a challenge.
Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Enzo (Michael Malarkey) will “lead the charge to save Bonnie [Kat Graham] before her condition worsens,” the synopsis for the CW drama says. It’s not really a surprising team up, but Stefan’s (Paul Wesley) partner is certainly unexpected.
“Stefan reluctantly teams up with Matt [Zach Roerig] for the sake of Bonnie and uncovers the truth behind Matt's anger towards him,” the synopsis teases. Will Stefan try to talk some sense into Matt, or will he understand the officer’s reasons?
TVD 720 Spoilers Alaric (Matt Davis) and Caroline (Candice Accola) will join the fight to save Bonnie (Kat Graham, not pictured) in “The Vampire Diaries” Season 7, episode 20. Photo: CW
Elsewhere, Caroline (Candice Accola) is getting back into the action after making her return last week, but Alaric (Matt Davis) might not be so happy about that. “Determined to help her best friend, Caroline joins Alaric on a mission and quickly realizes how much she’s missed her former supernatural lifestyle,” the summary reveals. The problem is that Alaric hasn’t been thrilled about being dragged into the vampire drama again. He wanted to return to his quiet life, so Caroline’s excitement might cause some tension.
The main focus, however, is Bonnie. As usual, plans will fall through, and that will lead Damon to make a difficult choice. “Finally, after their plan takes an unexpected turn, Damon makes a fateful decision that will forever change his relationship with Bonnie,” the synopsis teases.
What could this “unexpected turn” be? It might have to do with the vault. In the trailer for episode 20, the witch is very interested in the Armory’s locked room. Will she figure out what’s inside?
Watch the trailer for “The Vampire Diaries” Season 7, episode 20 below:
The good news is that Bonnie isn’t going anywhere yet. Kat Graham said she is signed on for Season 8, which will be her last season. Unfortunately, fans know that doesn’t guarantee her safety. After all, Bonnie has died on the drama several times and it always traumatizes her loved ones. Fans will have to hope that Bonnie stays alive for the sake of her friends.
“The Vampire Diaries” Season 7, episode 20 airs Friday, April 29, at 8 p.m. EDT on the CW.

‘The Vampire Diaries’ Season 7 Spoilers: Michael Malarkey Confirms Bonnie Love Triangle?

New spoilers for "The Vampire Diaries" season seven hinted that there could be a love triangle between Bonnie Bennett, Damon Salvatore and Enzo St. John.

SpoilerTV reported that the CW recently released the official synopsis for episode 20, which is titled "Kill Them All."
The synopsis revealed that Enzo and Damon are going to team up in order to find a cure for Bonnie before her conditions worsens.
After Damon's plan takes an unexpected turn, he is going to make a fateful decision that will change his relationship with the young witch for good.
"The Vampire Diaries" star Michael Malarkey recently sat down with Collider to discuss what is in store for Enzo in "Kill Them All."
Malarkey hinted that episode 20 is going to be very intense and is going to end with a shocking twist that will leave viewers speechless.
"You have no idea how crazy it is going to get," he said. "It's of Shakespearean proportions. Enzo is poisoning the love of his life without his own knowledge of it. That's huge! What a terrible thing to happen to two people who have just finally found something, after years of not having anything. But that makes all of the scenes very high stakes and very intense. There's a crazy twist coming up that you will see very soon.
"The Vampire Diaries" star also hinted that there could be a love triangle brewing between Bonnie, Enzo and Damon.
"There are a lot of good one-liners and looks between those three," Malarkey explained. "It's a very complex thing going on with the three of them. You have Bonnie's history with Damon as well as her romantic history with Enzo. Plus, there's Damon's past history with Enzo too. You've got this whole three-pronged mess going on. It makes for some great drama and some really, really tasty scenes coming up between the three of us."
It is possible that Damon's decision in episode 20 involves the realization that he has fallen in love with Bonnie, which could kick off a new love triangle on the show.
Aside from Enzo possibly having some competition for Bonnie's affection, Malarkey added that he thinks Enzo would go on a downward spiral and turn his humanity off if Bonnie dies at the end of episode 20.
"Losing Bonnie would affect Enzo deeply," the actor said. "He's finally found something genuine and I feel like if she were to die, he would probably spiral uncontrollably. Maybe he would even switch off his humanity too."
"The Vampire Diaries" season seven will return on Friday, April 29, at 8 p.m. ET on the CW.

'The Vampire Diaries' season 7 spoilers: Enzo, Bonnie's fate

'The Vampire Diaries' season 7 spoilers: Enzo, Bonnie's fate

(The CW)
"The Vampire Diaries" star Michael Malarkey, who plays the role of Enzo in the show's seventh season, revealed in an interview what fans can expect now that Enzo and Bonnie's storylines have taken an unexpected turn and how the possibility of losing the latter would affect his character in the series.
In a recent interview with Collider, Malarkey discussed various things about the show's current season—how he felt when he discovered that his character's life would change and end up with someone. Now that that someone is on the verge of dying, he was forced to team up with an unlikely ally in a desperate effort to save her life.
What would happen now? What twists and turns might be in store for their characters? Malarkey teased that fans can expect something "crazy" in future episodes.
"Oh, my god, you have no idea how crazy it's going to get!" the actor said. "It's pretty intense. It's of Shakespearean propositions. Enzo is poisoning the love of his life without his own knowledge of it. That's huge! What a terrible thing to happen to two people who have just finally found something, after years of not having anything. But, that makes all of the scenes very high stakes and very intense. There's a crazy twist coming up, that you'll find out very soon."
In "Somebody That I Used to Know," Enzo and Bonnie found out that Rayna may hold the key to Bonnie's survival. With that, they teamed up with Damon, through reluctantly. Should their attempt at saving Bonnie's life fail, Malarkey said that he believes Enzo's condition might worsen.
"Hugely," he answered, when asked how much it could affect Enzo. "Because he's spent however many years he's been alive in and out of an orphanage, on the streets, dying of tuberculosis, being a vampire, having nobody, thinking he's found his family with Lily and the Heretics, to not having that, and then finally finding something genuine, I feel like he's at the peak of something right now. I feel like, if she were to die, he would probably spiral uncontrollably, and maybe even switch his humanity off and become a nutcase."
"The Vampire Dairies" airs Fridays on The CW.

The Vampire Diaries' news: As season 7 nears end, things said to be going wild

The Vampire Diaries' news: As season 7 nears end, things said to be going wild

YouTube/The CW Television Network
"The Vampire Diaries" episode 19, "Somebody That I Used to Know," was an episode that a true fan could wish for. There was romance, as well as lots of action. Bonnie was sick, Enzo was risking his own life for her, and Damon was helping to win her back. There were also dead bodies went piling up.
Actor Michael Malarkey, who plays Enzo, was recently interviewed by Collider, and he mostly talked about his part on the "The Vampire Diaries" series, especially now that the seventh season is almost over.  The actor also shared some of his thoughts about the relationship between Enzo and Bonnie (Kat Graham), and how he learned about this plan.
Malarkey mentioned that he is happy that he is in his fourth "TVD" season now and thought that it would just be short stint, one season, and then it would be over.  Enzo, on his part, has made a great transformation with all the pain that has happened to him.
He then mentioned that the next episode will put emphasis on the Enzo-Bonnie relationship, describing it as "quite a lovely episode."
The site also mentioned that Malarkey's character can be considered a balanced one in the current season.  The actor explained that during the previous season where Enzo was more on the bad side -- when the character was full of revenge -- it affected his own personal life.  However, he is currently happier than before.

During the course of the interview, the actor was asked about the relationship between Enzo and Bonnie and what could he say about it.  Surprisingly, he said, "Oh, my god, you have no idea how crazy it's going to get! It's pretty intense. It's of Shakespearean propositions. Enzo is poisoning the love of his life without his own knowledge of it. That's huge!"

He then added, "What a terrible thing to happen to two people who have just finally found something, after years of not having anything. But, that makes all of the scenes very high stakes and very intense. There's a crazy twist coming up, that you'll find out very soon."

The Futon Critic posted the synopsis for episode 20, "Kill 'Em All," which says, "A DEAL WITH THE DEVIL - With Bonnie's (Kat Graham) life at stake and an uphill battle ahead of them, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Enzo (Michael Malarkey) lead the charge to save Bonnie before her condition worsens. Stefan (Paul Wesley) reluctantly teams up with Matt (Zach Roerig) for the sake of Bonnie and uncovers the truth behind Matt's anger towards him. Elsewhere, determined to help her best friend, Caroline (Candice King) joins Alaric (Matt Davis) on a mission and quickly realizes how much she's missed her former supernatural lifestyle. Finally, after their plan takes an unexpected turn, Damon makes a fateful decision that will forever change his relationship with Bonnie,"

Kellie Cyrus took the helm for the next episode, while Chad Fiveash and James Stoterau wrote the script.

"The Vampire Diaries" airs on The CW every Friday at 8 p.m. EST

'The Vampire Diaries' Season 7 spoilers: Michael Malarkey talks the possibility of Enzo losing Bonnie

'The Vampire Diaries' Season 7 spoilers: Michael Malarkey talks the possibility of Enzo losing Bonnie

One of the best things about Friday's episode of "The Vampire Diaries" was the revelation of how Bonnie (Kat Graham) and Enzo (Michael Malarkey) ended up together. Through flashback scenes the show presented a convincing story of how the two became an item, and "Bonenzo" has now become a fan-favourite pair.
But add Bonnie's best friend Damon to the equation, and things get dramatic. Talking about how Damon's entry into their relationship will affect the pair, Michael Malarkey, the actor who plays Enzo, told Collider that their respective history with Ian Somerhalder's Damon has resulted in a lot of interesting scenes that will play out in the coming episodes.

"There are a lot of good one-liners and looks between those three," Malarkey told Collider. "Oh, man, it's a very complex thing going on with the three of them. You have Bonnie and Damon's entire history, and you have Damon and Enzo's entire history, and then you have this new but very real romantic history between Bonnie and Enzo. You've got this whole three-pronged clusterfuck going on. It makes for some great drama and some really, really tasty scenes coming up between the three of us."
The gang is now in a rush to save Bonnie's life, but they are on the clock and based on the synopsis for the upcoming episode, things don't look good for Bonnie. And if Bonnie were to die, Enzo could very well spiral out of control. The vampire might even switch off his humanity, and become a ruthless bloodsucker.
"I feel like, if she were to die, he would probably spiral uncontrollably, and maybe even switch his humanity off and become a nutcase," Malarkey said. "Because he's spent however many years he's been alive in and out of an orphanage, on the streets, dying of tuberculosis, being a vampire, having nobody, thinking he's found his family with Lily and the Heretics, to not having that, and then finally finding something genuine, I feel like he's at the peak of something right now."

‘The Vampire Diaries’ Michael Malarkey on Just How Crazy Things Are About to Get

‘The Vampire Diaries’ Michael Malarkey on Just How Crazy Things Are About to Get

the-vampire-diaries-michael-malarkey-interview
In the next episode of The CW series The Vampire Diaries, called “Somebody That I Used to Know,” Enzo’s (Michael Malarkey) efforts to protect Bonnie (Kat Graham) end up putting her life in jeopardy, and they learn that Rayna (Leslie Anne-Huff) may hold the key to her survival. With time running out, Enzo and Bonnie reluctantly team up with Damon (Ian Somerhalder), who is desperate to save Bonnie’s life and repair their broken friendship.
During this exclusive interview with Collider, actor Michael Malarkey talked about what’s most surprised him about his character’s journey on The Vampire Diaries, why he’s pleased with this season’s trajectory, when and how he learned about the plan for Enzo and Bonnie, how crazy things are going to get on the mission to save Bonnie’s life, what losing Bonnie might do to Enzo, and what it’s like to be directed by one of his co-stars (both Paul Wesley and Ian Somerhalder have directed episodes). Be aware that there are some spoilers.

Collider: Enzo has taken a very interesting journey over the seasons. When you think back to what you were initially told about this guy and who he was when you first started on the show, what has most surprised you about the journey that he’s taken and where he is now?
MICHAEL MALARKEY: That’s a great question. I suppose it’s just how long the journey has gone on. I thought this was going to be a short little stint, flying out to the States, shooting this vampire show for a couple of episodes, and flying back to London, but I’ve been here now, moving into my fourth season. I’m a very live-in-the-moment kind of guy, so I take each season and each episode as it comes and I’ve just been enjoying the ride. But I suppose, looking back now, I feel like he’s just become such a three-dimensional character who’s gone through so much pain and turmoil. Finally, in this next episode, we find that he has a real genuine, grounded relationship with somebody and it really means something to both of them. I feel like, tracing his trajectory up to this point, it really justifies the relationship. I hope that everyone can see that and agree with me, in the next episode, ‘cause it’s quite a lovely episode.
Enzo has been a bit of a villain at times, but he’s also been a sympathetic character at times. How do you view him, especially now?
MALARKEY: He’s as much me as I’m him. It’s hard to look objectively at a character that you’ve been playing this long. I don’t sit and judge his actions. I just get each new script and go, “Okay, that’s what I’m doing. Let me connect all the dots, justify it and make it work. Let me figure out how to say it in this accent.” I just take it as it comes. I don’t ever judge my characters. But, I’m very pleased with this season’s trajectory. It’s been like a river.
Do you prefer when he has a balance of the dangerous side and the softer side, and he’s not leaning too far to one side or the other?
MALARKEY: I think it’s healthy, as a person and as an actor, to be able to have all those different sides ‘cause then you tap into them more yourself and you feel more like a complete human being. I feel like when I’ve just been playing the villain, sometimes it can feel a little one-sided. I know in last season, I got a little frustrated with it ‘cause he was hell-bent on revenge, and that bled a little into my personal life and I became a little one-sided. This season has been a lot more multi-dimensional. Things are good.

the-vampire-diaries-michael-malarkey-interview

When did you learn that the writers were planning to take Enzo and Bonnie in this direction, and what was your reaction to their relationship?
MALARKEY: It was at Comic-Con that I found out, actually. We get these Do Not Reveal sheets with things that we can tease, and the Comic-Con one said, “In the flash-forwards this coming season, we will see who Enzo ends up with.” I was like, “Oh, fuck, man! You know, so why don’t I know?!” So, I was lurking around (executive producer) Caroline Dries, at one point, and she was like, “Okay, fine. Listen, you’re going to be paired up with Bonnie, but don’t tell her yet. I don’t know if she’s ready for the information.” But anyway, that’s when I found out. I was happy ‘cause I respect Kat [Graham] a lot. And the scenes that we did have together in the past were always really fun to shoot. What’s great about working with Kat is that she puts a lot of work in. Her scripts are covered in notes that nobody can see. She’s very present in the scenes, which means that each take is going to be slightly different. If you’re a half-way decent actor, you know that acting is reacting, so you give back what you’re given. With our scenes, each take is different because we’re responding to different things that the actor is giving. When the actor is not in the moment and delivers the exact same performance every time, it’s frustrating because you feel something different, but they dish it back the same, so you feel like the scene is dead. But when you’re both present, that is what we do this for, to really live in that moment and make a real scene. Kat and I were both leaving after working on these scenes just buzzing and feeling good about the work. That’s great. It’s why I do what I do.

Enzo and Bonnie are such fun character to watch, especially together, because they’re both sort of loose canons on the show. They don’t really have any blood family, and they’ve both been betrayed and hurt by a lot of people. So now that they have this relationship, what can you say to tease what’s next for them and the mission to save her?
MALARKEY: Oh, my god, you have no idea how crazy it’s going to get! It’s pretty intense. It’s of Shakespearean propositions. Enzo is poisoning the love of his life without his own knowledge of it. That’s huge! What a terrible thing to happen to two people who have just finally found something, after years of not having anything. But, that makes all of the scenes very high stakes and very intense. There’s a crazy twist coming up, that you’ll find out very soon.
Enzo and Bonnie are unpredictable enough, but when you add Damon into the mix, things get really interesting. How are the three of them handling things together?
MALARKEY: There are a lot of good one-liners and looks between those three. Oh, man, it’s a very complex thing going on with the three of them. You have Bonnie and Damon’s entire history, and you have Damon and Enzo’s entire history, and then you have this new but very real romantic history between Bonnie and Enzo. You’ve got this whole three-pronged clusterfuck going on. It makes for some great drama and some really, really tasty scenes coming up between the three of us.
If their efforts to save Bonnie ultimately fail, what would losing her do to Enzo? How deeply do you think it would affect him?
MALARKEY: Hugely. Because he’s spent however many years he’s been alive in and out of an orphanage, on the streets, dying of tuberculosis, being a vampire, having nobody, thinking he’s found his family with Lily and the Heretics, to not having that, and then finally finding something genuine, I feel like he’s at the peak of something right now. I feel like, if she were to die, he would probably spiral uncontrollably, and maybe even switch his humanity off and become a nutcase. That’s what I would surmise. We don’t know exactly what happens yet. We’ll see.

Anytime there’s a relationship on a show, that’s probably what you hear the most fan feedback about, and people have responded largely positively about the way the relationship between Enzo and Bonnie has turned out. Was there a moment where you realized that the viewers liked seeing these characters together?
MALARKEY: Well, there’s always going to be haters and lovers. It’s the nature of life. It’s not only on Twitter. There have actually been people who were Bonnie and Enzo fans before this link up even happened. The fandom is peculiar, in that respect. I’m paired up with people from The Originals. People are like, “Oh, my god, I’m so ‘shipping them!,” and I’m like, “We’re not even on the same show! We don’t know each other!” I feel like there was a great initial response when that happened. Also, when you shock the fans of a show, it’s a good thing. Even when it’s a horrible thing, like the Red Wedding in Game of Thrones, that was the best episode that season with the shock factor. This is the opposite spectrum with the love angle, but that shock had people going, “Oh, my god! Oh, actually . . .” They went through that entire thought process in a matter of seconds, when they first kissed. There are still some people who are probably haters, but it’s not about that. It’s about creating good drama, and I think you’ll see a lot of it in the next episode.
Paul Wesley and Ian Somerhalder have both directed episodes of the show. What’s it like to be directed by one of your co-stars, who probably knows the show and characters better than anybody? Does it make you feel more reassured that you’re in good hands?

the-vampire-diaries-michael-malarkey-ian-somerhalder

MALARKEY: It’s like being directed by your buddies. Obviously, they don’t direct together ‘cause that would be like Bert and Ernie. Actually, they kind of look like Bert and Ernie. Can you print that? No, I’m just playing. It’s great. The thing that’s good is that they’re coming at it from an actor’s perspective. They’re watching the performance as much as they’re watching the aesthetic, and probably more, in some cases. That’s not always the case. A lot of TV directors are really good at painting pictures, and getting the shot and the images, and they just expect us to do our job and deliver on each take. Whereas, Paul will come up to me and be like, “I see what you’re doing there. Try this.” And he’ll give a very specific note. I love notes. It takes you out of your comfort zone, stops you from just doing what you’d normally do and gives you something to think about. It’s a blast.
The Vampire Diaries airs on Friday nights on The CW.

Vampire Diaries' Michael Malarkey Previews Bonnie and Enzo's Big Date, the Armory's 'Creepy' Master Plan

The Vampire Diaries Spoilers

Vampire Diaries' Michael Malarkey Previews Bonnie and Enzo's Big Date, the Armory's 'Creepy' Master Plan

Bonnie Bennett’s pill problem is about to become everyone‘s pill problem.
Friday’s episode of The Vampire Diaries (The CW, 8/7c) reveals the twisted truth behind the Armory’s plan for Kat Graham’s all-powerful character, and it’s — you guessed it — not good!
“It’s a huge reveal, pretty messed up and creepy,” Michael Malarkey tells TVLine. “It basically takes us into the lead-up to the finale. … Oh man, it’s big.”
Below, Malarkey delves deeper into Bonnie and Enzo’s complicated relationship, then teases what we can expect from Enzo’s reluctant team-up with Damon:
TVLINE | The CW released pictures of Bonnie and Enzo having dinner together. It looks romantic, but things are rarely what they seem on this show.
That particular evening happens to be on New Year’s Eve. Up until that point, Enzo has been keeping Bonnie quote-unquote safe from the Armory; unbeknownst to him, he’s actually been poisoning her the entire time. They started their relationship with this captor/captive type thing, and Enzo thinks, “This girl deserves a nice New Year’s dinner.” So they have one, which ends up being a little more romantic than probably intended.
TVLINE | Why do you think Bonnie and Enzo work as a couple?
On a very archaic level, she brings out the good in him and he brings out the bad in her — in a good way. We’ve seen them being feisty with each other, but that’s going to move to a place that’s a lot more honest. We started to see it last week when he told her about the pills.
TVLINE | So, all things considered, you think he’s good for her?
I do, yeah. He’s a man [laughs] as opposed to a boy. He brings out that spark in her that we all know she has. If this pill thing hadn’t happened, we’d see them in a much better place. The viewers haven’t had the chance to go through the relationship the way we have, talking about their backstory and all that, so I understand if people are having trouble with it. Once they watch this week’s episode, [they’ll] get to see the build-up of the relationship, some very tender moments.
TVLINE | At this point, is Bonnie more pissed at Enzo for poisoning her or Damon for leaving her?
She may feel differently, but I don’t think Bonnie is pissed at Enzo. He wouldn’t have known [the pills were poisonous] and you can’t hate on your lover for doing something they didn’t know they were doing. So I’d say she’s more pissed at Damon. … We’re used to seeing Enzo making trouble as the side guy — that’s what I’ll call him, the “side guy” — but in this episode, you get to see him in full-on hero mode. … It’s funny, this really is a show of antiheroes. Are there are any actual, real heroes in this story? Matt Donovan, maybe?
TVLINE | I’ll buy that. … Speaking of antiheroes, Enzo and Damon have to work together to help Bonnie. I imagine that won’t go over too smoothly.
It’s going to be tough for Enzo and Damon, but it’s great for me and Ian [Somerhalder]. Getting to work with him and Kat … that’s like the dream team, we just rock it. But yes, it’s a difficult situation for Enzo. He’s spent the past few years trying to get Bonnie to deal with this Damon thing, whatever it is, and he’s been very understanding of that. It’s almost like dealing with someone’s ex who pops back into the picture wanting to make amends. Do you be the bigger person, or do you say, “Back off, buddy”? Enzo chooses the former option.

Deepest apologies to anyone who was planning on attending Bloody Diary Con Italia in Milan. I've just found out they've cancelled without proper notice. This is the 3rd con that's screwed me/us over. First M2 events in Brazil, then Alpha Con and now this. It's criminal for these so-called promoters to be using our names to take your hard earned money and then disappear! Sorry again Italia. I hope to make it up to you... Mx

"The Vampire Diaries" season 7 episode 19 titled, "Somebody That I Used to Know," will focus on the love story between Enzo (Michael Malarkey) and Bonnie (Kat Graham).
The previous episode got fans excited with the 3-year future glimpse of Bonnie inside an asylum. The scene disclosed that she will be romantically involved with Enzo. However, the scene did not show how the two will end up together.

Executive producer Julie Plec said to Entertainment Weekly that more of Bonnie and Enzo's relationship will be featured in the future episodes.
"One of the biggest bridge backs that we owe is the story of how Bonnie ended up in the asylum and how the hell she and Enzo ended up as a couple and that's episode 19, which I love," she said. It's a really great Bonnie-Enzo centric love story episode, and it's fun to watch."
The exciting story, however, came just in time for Graham's departure. She previously revealed that the she will no longer appear in the next season. In an interview with US Weekly, the actress said that she will focus on other things after she leaves.
"Season 8 will be my last season," she said. "I just hope that whatever I do after, the crew can come with me. If the crew can come with me, then we'll be good. The crew is going to be the hardest thing to let go, because we are a family."
She then revealed that Bonnie will deal with a series of emotional turmoil before the season concludes. The past episodes showed her character recovering from Tyler's (Michael Trevino) attack, and working with Damon (Ian Somerhalder) to face Rayna (Leslie-Anne Huff).
Meanwhile, Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Alaric (Matt Davis) will come face to face in the next episode as the former travels to Dallas. The two will be prompted to find out why Stefan is no longer involved with Caroline (Candice King).
